Blended Learning and E-Learning Credit Courses

The provincial Virtual Learning Environment (VLE), formerly known as the Learning Management System (LMS), provides students with the opportunity to take online credit courses, and to learn in face-to-face classroom settings. Students have the opportunity to receive instruction and support from qualified Ontario teachers.

Blended Learning and e-Learning Credit Courses provide learners with the flexibility they need to succeed, and provide diverse learning opportunities as they work towards graduation.

Blended Learning

Blended Learning occurs when students use digital learning tools in a face-to-face classroom setting with their peers and their teacher. This can involve the use of many resources and tools in the classroom. Learn more about the tools and resources used in Blended Learning here.

Learning Credit Courses

E-Learning Credit Courses are taught by e-Learning teachers. The online credit courses allow secondary students to select from a wide range of subjects that may not be offered at their school, or cannot take due to a scheduling conflict at school.

Students participating in an e-Learning Course can:

  • Access a wide variety of high-quality online courses, as well as videos, activities, maps and interactive multimedia.
  • Recover compulsory course credits needed for graduation.
  • Access digital learning resources anywhere, anytime.
  • Reduce timetable conflicts.
  • Practice new skills online and prepare for tests and exams.
  • Enhance their knowledge of and experience using digital tools.
